Banyan TreesDigital Photos of Banyans from Selby Gardens, Sarasota, Florida, 2003© Gregory Hochman
The massive Banyans and giant Fig Tree from Selby Gardens and Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida were the inspiration for my first tree photos. In 2003 I visited my dad and step-mom in Florida. During that trip we visited Ringling Museum and Selby Gardens, where I was introduced to Banyan Trees the Morton Bay Fig Tree. I was inspired, immediately; blown away by the size and novelty of the banyans, they were my perfect subject! The idea of painting them was instant and clear. The problem, however, I did not have my paints with me, so I decided it was time to investment in a digital camera. Since then I've continued to take tree photos and painting some trees.
