Blanket of Leaves on
Turning Tree
Watercolor Painting: watercolor dye on
watercolor paper, 16 x 12"
What has Patience? Trees
that grow one ring at a time. Trees that live hundreds of years.
Trees that hold the soil and cleanse the air. Trees that change in small,
but significant ways throughout the course of a year.
Trees are designed to wait
patiently. They wait for new roots, new branches, new leaves. They
wait until their leaves explode with color before falling to the earth; they
wait through the toughest winter storms; they wait for their flowers to bloom;
and they wait for an explosion of fruit.
What is Patience? And
what is it not? Our mind and attitude directly effects our patience, yet
patience is not entirely mental. Our anatomy and the anatomical
positions we use directly effects our patience, yet patience is not purely
of the body. We can sense patience; and our emotions are effected by
it, yet patience is not an emotion.
Patience is in the realm the
invisible; it is a force. Everyone knows: patience is a virtue.
Virtues are, and have, particular powers. And every work of art, which is
made with craftsmanship teaches us about this.
